In an effort to streamline the BOD meetings and address all “Public Comments” the following is a policy to adhere to during meetings.

The “Public Comment” portion of the PYH Board meeting is an opportunity for members of the Parkway Youth Hockey community and invited participants to bring general matters related to the operation of PYH to the Board’s attention for initial consideration and discussion.

  • Unless otherwise determined by the President, members of PYH who wish to appear before the Board during the Public Comment period must notify and receive permission from the President at least twenty-four hours ahead of the meeting so other Board members may be informed and the item may be added to the agenda.

  • Efforts will be made to accommodate each person who wishes to address the Board, but time and agenda constraints may limit the amount of time or participants that may be devoted to the Public Comment period.

  •  Members of PYH will be given 3-5 minutes to present their discussion item /comment.
    • They will be asked to state the matter in a clear and concise manner
    • They will state their expected outcome

  • The BOD may ask questions relating to the issue to gather initial information. (this will be limited to a period of no longer than 3 minutes)

  • All discussion during the Public Comment period shall be civil and respectful. The President may stop a discussion or any person who in the President’s view behaves in an uncivil and disrespectful manner.

  • The Board may refer a matter raised during the Public Comment period to an appropriate sub-committee for further review and recommendation.  Such matters include, potential grievances, disciplinary issues, alleged misconduct, or discussion regarding the reputation or character of a PYH member.

  • The Board will not make a decision regarding a matter raised for the first time during a Public Comment period until a subsequent meeting.

  • This will allow the BOD members the opportunity to review and consider the information presented and will allow time in the for additional fact finding if necessary.
